Professional Development

The FLARE project team held summer institutes in the three pilot school districts to create, refine, and implement its professional development offerings. As a result of the summer institutes, the following four Professional Development Modules are being developed:

  1. an introduction to formative assessment,
  2. an introduction to the Language Learning Progressions,
  3. an introduction to academic language, and
  4. creating formative assessment tools and providing feedback.

Each of the modules will follow a similar format with a power point presentation and training materials including handouts, teacher and student vignettes, activities, manipulatives, and a tutorial in question and answer format.
